Hanging Rock Tavern has temporarily closed its doors, the business announced on Aug. 28 in a Facebook post.
Located at 1790 Thompson Memorial Drive, the tavern cited “unforeseen circumstances and changes within our partnership” as the reason for pausing operations.
“With heavy hearts, we are announcing the temporary closure of Hanging Rock Tavern, effective today,” the post said. “We are deeply grateful to our employees and all who have supported us, our customers, community, musicians, family, and friends.”
The tavern, known for its smokehouse-style menu, craft beverages and live music, opened as part of Hanging Rock LLC’s efforts to combine dining and entertainment with agriculture and outdoor recreation. In addition to the Salem location, the company operates a farm in Shawsville that offers a brewery and tasting room along with events, disc golf, mountain biking, trail running and hiking.
The owners said they hope to regroup and reopen at a later date.
“Together, we created wonderful memories filled with great food, outstanding craft beverages, and incredible live music,” the post said. “Please continue to follow us as we work on regrouping so the good times can continue.”
