Christine Yvonne Hart (Punkin), 68, of Salem, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017.
Chris was born October 18, 1948, in Galax, a daughter of the late Willard M. Cockerham and Mildred Ruth Clark Cockerham. She graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and attended Ohio University. She was a vocalist and keyboardist in the local band “Truckers Delight.” Chris was a voracious reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Salem Public Library. Chris also loved cooking and gardening.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert Jackson and Vella Ruth Cockerham, and maternal grandparents, E.V. and Ila Mae Clark.
Chris is survived by her mother, Mildred Ruth Cockerham; daughter, Molly Rebecca Hart and husband, Brett Laverty; grandson, Miles Laverty; sister, Jackie O’Neill and husband, Chris O’Neill; nephew, James Patrick O’Neill and niece, Mary Catherine Yeakel.
