The winter sports seasons will officially begin for high school teams next week, and Salem and Glenvar both have games on the schedule.

Winter action begins Tuesday, November 28, with two Glenvar basketball games. The boys will play host to Staunton River and the girls will be at William Byrd for coach Brian Crockett’s debut as head coach. Glenvar also has a swim meet at the Gator Center on that night.

On Thursday, November 30, Salem hoop teams open with the boys at Northside and the girls home to the Vikings. The Salem swim team has a home meet at the YMCA and the Glenvar girls’ basketball team is at Staunton River.

December comes in on Friday and the Glenvar boys’ basketball team is at Covington. Wrestling also begins with Salem at the two day Amherst Classic and Glenvar at the Parry McCluer tournament, which also carries over to Saturday.

Salem’s swimmers open on December 2nd with a meet in Christiansburg and the Salem indoor track team is at Liberty University on that day.
