The Glenvar soccer teams battled Radford and the rain on Monday and came out on the short end. The girls dropped a 5-0 decision and the boys lost 3-1.
Gavin Curfiss scored the only goal on the night for the Highlanders, assisted by Peyton Taliaferro. The loss dropped the boys to 3-5 on the season as they also lost to Galax last Friday, 4-0.
The girls tied Galax, 1-1, and they’re now 3-3-1 on the season. Ashley Zaronsky scored Glenvar’s goal in that game with an assist from Gabriella Stanley.
The soccer teams will be busy in the coming week, including a home-and-home series with Three Rivers District rival James River. The boys and girls were scheduled to play at James River on Wednesday of this week, and next Monday the same teams will play on Glenvar’s pitch. Today, April 26, both teams are scheduled to play at Carroll County in another district matchup.
