Glenvar’s Peyton Deel lays down a perfect bunt with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of fhe seventh inning of a tie game with Northside.

The Glenvar High boys soccer team kept on rolling with a 6-0 win over Alleghany in a Three Rivers District game at Highlander Stadium last Thursday. The game was stopped with 20 minutes to play due to lightning.

With the win Glenvar improved to 13-0 on the season and it was the 51st straight win without a loss. In the 13 games this season Glenvar has now outscored the opposition 85 to 1.

Last week at home Aidan Hylton started the scoring 18 minutes into the game by scoring off an Alan Vu corner kick. Griffin Geddes would add two goals in the first half off Ryder Francisco and Hylton assists as the Highlanders held a 3-0 lead at the half.

Hylton added two more goals in the second half to complete his hat trick. Kian Fisher also scored in the second half as Adam Saunders, Geddes and Jake Williams collected second half assists.

Glenvar outshot Alleghany 23-4 as Grayson Shepherd and Tyler Shannon combined for the Highlanders’ 12th shutout of the season.

“It was a solid district win for us,” said coach Josh Jones. “Hopefully we can keep improving and finish our regular season strong.”

The Highlanders are now off until Monday when they host Cave Spring for “Senior Night.” Next Tuesday they’re at Alleghany, then at James River on Wednesday, May 21.
