The Roanoke College women’s basketball team fell to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 79-61 loss to Shenandoah University in Winchester Saturday.
The Hornets led 38-31 at the half before the Maroons were able to cut the deficit down to three. Shenandoah kept RC from getting any closer to taking the lead for the rest of the game.
RC junior Ashley Fowler recorded her first career double-double in the contest. She led the squad in rebounds with 14, 11 of which were defensive, and put up 12 points. Fowler’s rebound total set a new career high for her in the category, and she also had a team-high four assists.
The Maroons have a nine-day break before heading to the Jamie Lynn Roberts Fairfield Inn DC Holiday Classic, hosted by Catholic University, on Dec. 15-16.
