Dorothy Bryan Hudson passed away on October 26, 2017. She was born on December 8, 1917, in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bronsy Hudson.

Dorothy was a 1935 graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke. She worked for Roanoke County for many years. She was a long-time member of Salem Baptist Church and the Be Active Live Longer (BALL) senior group. She loved working in her garden, reading and playing bridge.

She is survived by daughters, Jacqueline Butler and husband Jim (Virginia Beach), Betty Brown (Vinton) and Kathy Hudson (Salem). She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Bryan, Andrew, Stephen, Nick, Natalie, Ashley, and Mariah. Also, she leaves behind six great-grandchildren and a special niece, Carol McConnell, Greensboro, NC.

The family thanks all her therapists and caregivers. We give exceptional thanks to Pam Cassell and Bonnie Culkin of Salem Family Clinic for their extraordinary care over the last several years. Appreciation is also expressed to Richfield’s Joseph C. Thomas Assisted Living and the Recovery Care Center, Gentle Shepherd Hospice and Heartland Hospice.

Arrangements will be coordinated by Sherwood Memorial Park (540-389-2171). A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the Downey Scholarship Fund at Salem Baptist Church, 103 North Broad Street, Salem, VA 24153. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory – Roanoke Chapel is also assisting the family.
