One of Salem’s most popular summer events, Jazz in July, will return to the Longwood Park Amphitheater on Saturday, July 20, at 3 p.m. This free day of live music features five bands that once again have been personally selected by local jazz aficionado Lenny Marcus.

The schedule includes:

3-4 p.m. Root Down Jazz Quintet

4:20-5:20 p.m. Vosbein Magee Big Band

5:40-6:40 p.m. Lew Taylor Quartet

7-8:15 p.m. Lenny Marcus Trio with Willis Greenstreet

8:30-9:30 p.m. Hoppie Vaughan & The Ministers of Soul

Gates open for the 23rd edition of this concert event at 3 p.m. and jazz fans are encouraged to bring lounge chairs and blankets and pack a picnic. The Tailgate, Hangry Bulldog, Salty Lobster & CO and Wicked Lemon Food Trucks will be onsite selling food and family-friendly beverages. A variety of beer and wine will be available for purchase, but patrons are not allowed to bring alcohol into the venue.

Along with parking that is available at Longwood Park, attendees can also park at the Salem Museum and Oakey Field lots. A golf cart shuttle service will be available from those locations for those with mobility issues. Please note that pets are not permitted at this event. For additional information, call the Salem Parks and Recreation Department at (540) 375-3057.
