Roger Dale Johns, 63, of Eagle Rock, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017.

He was a giving man; serving his country, community, and the well-being of others.  Roger was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, a Volunteer with the Eagle Rock Fire and Rescue Squad, and an organ donor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Lindy” Johns. He is survived by his wife, Missy Johns; mother, Marie Johns of Eagle Rock; daughter, Missy Doss of Blacksburg; sons, Christopher Johns of Fredericksburg, Cullen Johns of Roanoke, Adam Johns of Fincastle; step-children, Carri, Corey and Chad Sparks; numerous grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and David Williams of North Canton, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Tina Johns of Eagle Rock; and former wife, Amy Sartin of Covington.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 25, in the Gymnasium of the Sports Complex of James River High School with Chaplain I. Ray Sloan and the Rev. Brian Clingenpeel officiating. Interment will follow in Eagle Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are beautiful; however, the family wishes donations be made to the Eagle Rock Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 234, Eagle Rock, 24085. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m Wednesday, May 24, at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan.
