Where does one begin regarding Congressman Cline’s very lengthy column in the Opinion section of the Salem Times-Register of April 10, 2025? In my past responses to Cline’s Opinion pieces, I dissected every point he made, presenting factual evidence of his inaccuracies. To respond to every point he makes in his latest opinion would take up the entire page.
Cline is Trump’s lap dog and is in lockstep with everything the deranged criminal in the White House says and does.
Cline is someone who supports a man who demeans women, mocks the disabled, is a pathological liar, a convicted felon, a failed businessman, and calls those servicemembers who died for this country suckers and losers. Since Cline supports Trump 100%, he must believe in these same things.
Trump supports Russia’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine. Trump initiated the tariffs that are rocking our economy that had been growing under former President Biden’s administration. Trump initiated the expulsion from this country of individuals without due process as required by law and has even called for the deportation of US citizens. (And yes, if you are here illegally you should be deported but only after due process.) Trump has called for the annexation of Canada, Greenland and Panama, even by force if necessary. Trump does not support NATO, which has kept the former Soviet Union and now Russia at bay for almost 80 years. Since Cline supports Trump 100%, he must believe in these same things.
Recall just a few days ago with the stock market tanking, Trump said “This is a great time to buy.” Hours later he announced his tariff pause and the stock market shot up sharply by over 2,900 points. Those who followed his advice made huge amounts of money. Many Democrats in Congress are asking who knew Trump was going to pause tariffs?
One could go on and on but I think the bottom line with those in Congress who support Trump is their fear of losing their jobs if they disagree with Trump and the loss of power and money that comes with the job. Throughout history it has always been about the money.
