The Andrew Lewis and Glenvar Middle School spring sports teams will go head-to-head for the second this spring when the baseball, softball and soccer teams meet on Monday, April 21. This time Glenvar will be home for baseball and boys’ soccer and Lewis will host the softball and girls’ soccer games.
All the teams played on Monday, with Lewis taking on Northside opponents and Glenvar meeting Central Academy. The Lewis baseball team beat the Norsemen, 9-6, at Northside as Crayton Boger had three hits and also stole home. Nick Winterer pitched for Lewis and the Wolverine offense had 10 hits at the team improved to 4-6.
Glenvar lost to Central Academy 7-2 in baseball. Raylan Franklin had three hits for the Highlanders.
In softball Northside roughed up the Wolverines, 14-1, as Lewis fell to 4-4-2. “Not our best game for sure but Northside is good,” said Lewis coach Randall Sell. They have a veteran team and are well coached. With that being said, I love this team. They are hard workers and have such a long way in a short amount of time.”
Glenvar came from behind to beat CAMS in softball, 9-7. Kherington Jewell struck out nine and had two hits. Elena Eskridge had two hits and three runs batted in.
The Lewis boys soccer team beat Northside 6-1. Goals were scored by Adric Setchel, Miles Biscotte, Carter Webb, Ever Herrera, Kemi Joly and Liam Munoz.
Glenvar’s boys improved to 9-1 on the season with a 7-0 win over Central Academy. Two goals a piece were scored by Bryson Kuzmich and Noah Stevens. Additional goals were scored by Isaac Carroll, Zack Williams and Benny Carter. Goal keeper Aiden Driver and the defense recorded their seventh shutout.
The Lewis girls soccer team defeated Northside Middle 7-0. Carma Mitchen scored the first goal while Nizyah Belcher and Kinsley Fischer had two goals each. Emmy Elliot and Mallory Franklin each added one goal as the Wolverines improved to 8-2.
The Glenvar girls were all over CAMS for a 10-1 win Monday.
Today Glenvar Middle School teams play William Byrd and Andrew Lewis takes on Cave Spring in baseball, softball and boys’ soccer. The Lewis girls’ soccer team was scheduled to play Cave Spring Tuesday.
