The Andrew Lewis Middle School basketball teams remained undefeated after five games with a sweep of Northside Monday night. The boys won at home and the girls won at Northside.

“The most impressive part of the win is how the bench is contributing in all aspects of the game,” said boys coach Dewayne Harrell. “Players are ready to play, and are able to keep the defensive pressure up at all times.

“ In general, we are still getting comfortable with our offense, but each day it gets better. Players are starting to understand the importance of moving without the ball and keeping space when playing basketball.”

The girls had an easy time with the Norsewomen, winning 52-9. Lexie Hart led Lewis with 13 points while Aniya Fox and Kourtney Goens had nine each and Emme Custer had eight.

“I’m very happy with the reduction in turnovers we’ve had the last few games and the girls continuing to get better offensively and defensively every day,” said coach Nat Franklin. “Many of the girls are playing with more confidence in themselves and that is great to see.”

The Wolverines are back in action today with the girls at Cave Spring and the boys hosting the Squires in the Lewis gym. Both are scheduled for 5:30 pm.
