The Andrew Lewis Middle School basketball teams will wrap up the season today, Thursday, with games against Cave Spring. The boys will host the Squires while the girls will play at Cave Spring Middle School.
Both teams played against Northside Middle on Monday. In Salem, the boys dropped a 46-37 decision to a strong Norse team. Lewis led at one point in the second period but Northside finished strong for the win. Tanner Overstreet had eight points for Lewis.
“The coaching staff was pleased with this game as a whole, even though we did not get the victory,” said coach DeWayne Harrell. “It confirms that we have good student athletes who are improving each day.”
The girls won at Northside, 47-7. Kourtney Goens had eight points and five assists, Kate Gibson had half a dozen points and 13 of the 15 Lewis girls scored.
“I’m really happy with how this team has passed the ball the last few games,” said coach Nat Franklin. “The girls are doing a much better job of being strong with the ball and making good decisions.”
