Several local girls play for the Virginia Extreme Force 12U travel softball team that recently won the ASA/USA Virginia State Championship and will be traveling to Dallas, TX to play in the Nationals.

The team is coached by Darren Hodges, a Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Famer. Founded in 1998, the Virginia Extreme Force organization has teams of several age groups. This year’s 12U team has a 24-8 record after 32 games and is 40-14 counting games in the fall of 2016. The team has won the ASA Cystic Fibrosis Benefit tournament, the ASA Botetourt Invitational and the ASA/USA VA State championship

“By winning the ASA/USA VA state championship our team received an automatic bid to the ASA/USA National Championship tournament in Dallas, Texas July 23-30,” said Hodges. “We accepted the bid and are now in the process of raising the funds.”

Fans interested in donating can go to the link “Go Fund Me” on the web-site www.leaguelineup.com/extremeforce.  If someone would like to make a donation other than Go Fund Me they can reach Hodges at his email, which is Darren_hodges@aol.com, for more information.
