Mannheim Steamroller will help kick off the holiday season in Salem this year, bringing its 40th Anniversary Christmas Tour to the Salem Civic Center on Monday, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert marks a milestone for founder and creator Chip Davis, whose Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Tour is the longest-running tour in the entertainment industry. Since 1984, the group’s blend of classical music with modern sounds has made them the best-selling Christmas artist of all time.
Tickets for the Salem show go on sale Friday, July 25, at 10 a.m. They will be available at the Salem Civic Center Box Office and online. Ticket prices are $49, $69, and $79, with preferred parking available for $10.
“I remember when I came out with my first Christmas album in 1984 followed by our first tour and back then, many in the music industry said focusing on Christmas just wouldn’t work,” Davis said in a statement. “Now, 40 years later, we are still going strong. I want to thank our fans for making us part of their holiday tradition. Today we often see multi-generational families join us during the holidays each year.”
This year’s performance will feature Mannheim Steamroller’s classic Christmas hits performed by 15 musicians playing more than 20 instruments, all set to a backdrop of dazzling multimedia effects. The show is designed to capture the spirit of the season in an immersive yet intimate setting.
Davis, a Grammy Award winner, will direct and co-produce the tour alongside MagicSpace Entertainment. Mannheim Steamroller has sold more than 41 million albums, including over 31.5 million in the Christmas genre. Their holiday albums consistently top Billboard’s Seasonal Chart year after year.
The Salem Civic Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
