Maroon field hockey advances

The Roanoke College field hockey team is the fourth seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament, which began Tuesday at the sites of the third and fourth seeds. The Maroons defeated fifth seeded Bridgewater, 2-1, in the first round while sixth seeded Randolph-Macon was at third seeded Shenandoah.
The top two seeds, Washington & Lee and Lynchburg, had first round byes. They’ll join the tournament for the semifinal round today with W&L hosting the Maroons and the Randolph-Macon versus Shenandoah winner heading to Lynchburg. The championship is at the site of the highest remaining seed on Saturday.
Roanoke is now 21-6 overall and 6-3 mark in the conference. The Maroons lost their last three regular season games, including a 5-2 defeat to Lynchburg at the Liberty University Field Hockey Complex last week.
