The Roanoke College men’s lacrosse team defeated Shenandoah University in Salem Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. Third seeded Roanoke won 24-10 and will play at the second seeded University of Lynchburg today at 4 pm.
Roanoke missed out on a chance to tie for the top spot in the conference when the Maroons lost a heart-breaker to Washington & Lee in their last regular season game. That was last Wednesday, April 23rd, at Kerr Stadium as the visiting Generals pulled out a 13-12 win. That made the seeding easy as the Generals, ranked ninth in the country by the USILA, went 10-0 in league play to earn one-of-two two-round byes into the semifinals of the ODAC’s altered-format eight-team bracket. The University of Lynchburg owns the other spot with the 15th-ranked Hornets going 9-1 on the way to the second seed. Roanoke lost two ODAC games, dropping one goal losses to Lynchburg,19-18, and W&L last week.
The conference championship game is scheduled for this Saturday at 2 pm at the highest remaining seed. The Maroons finished the regular season with a 12-5 overall record.
