The Roanoke College women’s soccer team will be home Saturday to host Virginia Wesleyan in a 3 pm ODAC soccer game. The Maroons improved to 4-3-1 with a Family Weekend win over Eastern Mennonite Saturday, edging the Royals 1-0 in double overtime.
After 107 scoreless minutes, Emily Whitaker found the back of the net off a pass from Hailey Davis to score the game-winner. Roanoke owned a 30-2 advantage in shots, including a 5-0 edge during the overtime periods. The Maroons took the only seven corners on the day.
The RC defense held strong as Caroline Liebel had to only make one save during her 107 minutes in net.
The win lifted RC to 4-3-1 on the season. Roanoke was scheduled to play at Guilford on Wednesday of this week.
