RC has home match with W&L on Friday
The Roanoke College wrestling team will host Washington & Lee in a big ODAC dual at the Cregger Center in Salem Friday night. The first whistle blows at 7 pm and it’s “Senior Night” for the Maroons.
Roanoke had three individual champions last Friday and Saturday to win the team title at the 2026 Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational in Wheaton, Illinois. The Invitational is the oldest and largest small-college wrestling tournament in the country, dating back to the original Wheaton Invitational in 1938, and the Maroons finished first among 30 teams.
Mac Cafurello won the title at 125 pounds, in the process recording his 100th career win – the first student-athlete to do so in program history. He won all five of his matches over the weekend enroute to the title.
Jude Robson earned five victories on his way to the 133 pound title, one by pin and one by technical fall. Lorenzo Pellot-Vazquez secured five wins, two by pin and one by technical fall to take the 197-pound championship. Roanoke had 154 team points, besting the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with 148.5 points. The Maroons had eight place winners.
