Maroons are second seed in men’s ODAC lacrosse tournament

For the second time in as many years, a tie at the top of the ODAC standings dictated the assignment of seeds in the upcoming ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. Unlike in 2016, this deadlock featured three squads with 8-1 conference records.

Goal-differential amongst the tied teams, which is the fourth step in the ODAC’s tiebreaking procedure for men’s lacrosse, was ultimately the deciding factor in sifting thru the stalemate between Washington and Lee University, Roanoke College, and Lynchburg College. The Generals will play as the #1 seed, which affords them the opportunity to host the semifinals and final on Friday and Saturday this weekend.

The Maroons, as the second seed, join W&L with byes thru the quarterfinal round. Lynchburg occupies the third seed and will be one of two semifinal hosts along with fourth-seeded Hampden-Sydney College.

Shenandoah University and Randolph-Macon College sat tied for the final two seeds in the tournament field. SU’s head-to-head win in the regular season bumped Shenandoah to the #5 seed, while R-MC will play as the sixth seed. SU heads to H-SC for the quarterfinals, and the Yellow Jackets make the trip to Lynchburg on Tuesday.
