The Roanoke College wrestling team earned its fourth-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title Saturday with a 45-0 victory over Averett University at the Cregger Center in Salem. The Maroons also defeated Washington & Lee in a Friday “Senior Night” match, 30-7.

With the two wins the Maroons, ranked No. 1 in the nation, end the regular season unbeaten with a 15-0 record, including 5-0 in the conference. RC recorded five shutouts this year in dual matches.

On Saturday against Averett two Maroons posted pins, Hunter Moore (4:11 at 184) and Lorenzo Pellot-Vázquez (3:51 at 197). Jude Robson, at 133 pounds, was one of four RC wrestlers to pick up a technical fall victory, joined by Mark Samuel at 141, Taylor Smith at 149 and Cade Parent at 165.

Kyle Lee won by major decision at 174 and Casey Smith was a decision winner at 157, as was Cam Cavins at 285. Mac Cafurello opened the dual with a hard-fought 4-1 win in the sudden victory period.

This Saturday the Maroons will compete in the ODAC Tournament at Shenandoah University in Winchester. The tournament decides the champions of individual weight classes.
