The Middle School basketball season is now underway and both Andrew Lewis and Glenvar Middle School teams were on the court Monday.
At Lewis, the boys improved to 3-0 with a 55-20 win over William Byrd in Vinton. An aggressive defense in all four periods allowed everyone on the team to play before the fifth period.
The Lewis girls played Byrd at home and won 39-5. Kat Gibson led the team with 12 points and all 15 girls got in the game as the AL ladies stayed unbeaten after three games.
Glenvar’s girls played host to Hidden Valley Middle School Monday and lost 18-12 to fall to 0-2. Glenvar led 4-0 after the first quarter but struggled with Hidden Valley’s press.
The boys were at Hidden Valley Monday and lost 38-33. Jax Bolling had 15 points and four steals for Glenvar and Evan Harris had nine rebounds.
All four teams are back in action today. The Lewis boys are home to Hidden Valley and the girls are at HV middle. Glenvar will play host to Carroll County with the boys’ game at 4:30 pm and the girls at 6 pm.
Next Monday, November 14, the AL girls host Northside and the boys go there while Glenvar’s girls are home to Cave Spring and the boys visit the Squires.
