Mill Mountain Theater to present ‘Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus: The Musical’ on Salem Library lawn

Bring a blanket to sit on and join us under a tent on the library lawn for the Mill Mountain Theater presentation of Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus: The Musical on Saturday, October 11 at 2:30pm.  The musical is based on the hilarious, popular, award-winning  book by Mo Willems.

Upcoming events for kids

Wednesdays, October 1, 8,15, 22, 29; 3:15pm: Barks & Books: Read with a therapy dog.  Grades 1-5; must be at least 6 years old to attend. Register at salemva.libcal.com.  Everyone who signs up gets at least 10 minutes to read with a dog.  You can bring your own book or pick one out when you arrive!  Registration guarantees you a spot in the program, not a specific start time.  Students will read one-on-one with a dog on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Thursdays, October 2, 9, 16,23, 30: 10:15am:   Book Babies:   Did you know? Literacy development begins at birth! Create lifelong readers with us at this special Storytime designed especially for infants and crawlers.  Register at salemva.libcal.com

Thursdays, October 2, 9, 16, 23,30; 11am:   Story Explorers: Create lifelong readers! Join us for stories, songs, and boisterous fun as we share our love of books with your child. Open to children ages 0-5 and their families.  Register at salemva.libcal.com

Tuesday, October 7, 3:30pm.   Grades K &1.  Creepy Book Club.  “Creepy Carrots” are taking over the library!  Come to this book club if you dare!  Register at salemva.libcal.com

Friday, October 10, 3:30pm. Grades 6-12: Community: Service Project: Fall Frames.   Earn volunteer hours and make fall-themed picture frames for the residents of Snyder Nursing Home!  Register at salemva.libcal.com

Thursday, October 9, 2pm.  Ages 18+ Afternoon Games for Adults—Quizzy Book Bingo!  Quizzy Bingo is an exciting new game from Quizrunners that cleverly combines the challenge of trivia with the classic fun of bingo.
