The Glenvar soccer teams split a doubleheader at Galax last week, with the girls winning and the boys going down to defeat.
The girls took a 9-1 win over the Maroon Tide, scoring seven second half goals. Freshman Jenna Hux scored twice on penalty kicks and had two other goals for four on the evening. She also had two assists.
Senior Kyleigh Drew had two goals and two assists for Glenvar. Jessica Lucas had two goals and Ashley Zaronasky had the final goal, which ended the game by slaughter rule. Kira Pierce, Sara Alexander and Ashlyn Smith had one assist each.
The boys lost to Galax, 7-1. Carson Cain scored the Highlanders’ goal.
The Highlanders are off this week, returning to action Monday with a doubleheader at Alleghany.
