The Roanoke College field hockey team was shut out for the fourth time this season, and the second game in a row, when the Maroons dropped a 6-0 decision to Mary Washington last Saturday at Salem’s Kerr Stadium. The Eagles are the 22nd-ranked team in the nation.
Corinne Orlando recorded the only shot for the Maroons. Roanoke’s goalies combined for 12 saves as Chloe Miller made multiple big saves, finishing with nine overall. The Maroons were outshot 30-1 and lost the advantage in penalty corners 9-1.
The Maroons were scheduled to play at Barton College in Wilson, N.C., on Tuesday. This Saturday, Oct. 3, they’ll be in Virginia Beach to take on Batten University, formerly known as Virginia Wesleyan.
