Kerr Stadium on the campus of Roanoke College will be the site of the NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse championship tournament this weekend. Semifinals will be Friday with the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
Action begins at 4 pm Friday when 17-3 Colby meets 19-1 Middlebury. The 7 pm game features 20-1 Tufts against 19-3 Gettysburg. The championship game is scheduled for noon on Sunday, May 25.
Middlebury is the three-time defending NCAA D-III champion, beating Salisbury in the championship game in Salem last season, 16-5. In fact, the final four teams in this year’s tournament have accounted for all but one D-III championship since 2016.
Middlebury won in 2024, ’23, ’22, ’19 and 2016 while Gettysburg won in 2017 and 2018. There was no tournament in 2020 due to COVID, and Salisbury won in 2021. Gettysburg was runnerup in 2023 while Tufts finished second in 2021 and ’22, including a one-goal loss to Salisbury in 2021, 14-13, to deny the Jumbos their first ever women’s lacrosse crown.
