The Rev. James B. Davis, currently of the Harrisonburg area, will become the part-time pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church on Hardy Road, Vinton, effective Sept. 3. He will succeed the Rev. Judy Tavela who retired 14 months ago after a decade in the pastorate. Davis has been serving two congregations, St. Mark and St. Martin in Rockingham County. He and his wife, Olivia, have two adult children with a son and his family living in Vinton where the new pastor is building a home. A daughter lives in Montgomery, Ala.
