Notice is hereby given to all interested persons that the Council of the City of Salem,

at its

regular meeting on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., in Council Chambers, City Hall, 114. N. Broad Street, in the City of Salem, Virginia, will hold a public hearing, pursuant to Sections 15.2-2204 and 15.2-2285 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, to consider the following

requests relative to the CODE OF THE CITY OF SALEM, VIRGINIA:

 

  1. Hold public hearing to consider the request of Seaside Heights, LLC, property owner, to rezone

the property located at 1590 West Main Street (Tax Map # 140-1-3) from LM Light

Manufacturing District to HBD Highway Business District.

 

  1. Hold public hearing to consider the request of Sherwood Memorial Park, Inc., property owner, for

a Special Exception Permit to allow for the expansion of the cemetery into the adjacent property

located at 1221 Lynchburg Turnpike (Tax Map # 117-1-8) with condition.

If approved, Salem City Council intends to adopt the ordinance(s) associated with the above item(s) on

first reading, with a second reading of those ordinance(s) at a subsequent meeting.

 

Copies of the proposed plans, ordinances or amendments may be examined in the Office of Community Development, 21 South Bruffey Street, Salem, Virginia.

 

At said hearing, parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard relative to the said requests.
