FEATHERNGILL, A. Raymond

A. Raymond Featherngill, 83, of Daleville, has gone home to be with his Heavenly Father as he passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Ray was born in Anderson, Ind., and brought his family to Virginia in 1967. He graduated from Franklin High School, attended Franklin College and then served in the United States Army. Ray retired from Elizabeth Arden in 1995 after 28 years of dedicated service. He was an avid golfer and sports fan and former member of Botetourt Country Club, member of Fincastle Baptist Church and volunteered with the Junior Achievement. Ray loved kids and coached little league for several years. He rarely missed the chance to watch his grandchildren play their various sports.

Ray is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 58 years, Lois Moss Featherngill; daughters, Lori Wampler and husband, Todd, and Lisa Brown and husband, Barry, both of Fincastle; and grandchildren, Amelia (Cory) Evans of Abingdon, Whitney Wampler of Columbia, S.C., Emily Wampler of Greenville, S.C., and Tyler Brown of Fincastle.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers and those with Amedisys Hospice.

The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at Oakey’s East Chapel in Bonsack. A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at Fincastle Baptist Church, 7330 Roanoke Road in Fincastle, led by Pastor Kevin Cummings.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fincastle Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be made at www.oakeys.com.
