BALL, Mary W.
Mary Ellen Watts Ball, 82, of Racine, Ohio passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Overbrook Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 27, 1935 in Buchanan, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Ruby Watts.
She married Garol “Shorty” Ball on August 14, 1954. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Eldridge Watts and William “Bud” Watts.
She is survived by two sons, Larry (Rita) Ball of Middleport, Ohio and David (Becki) Ball of Racine, Ohio; three grandsons, Michael (Jodi) Ball of Racine, Adam Ball of Racine and Wyatt (Annisha) Ball of Middleport; great-grandchildren, Amaya Ball and Myles Ball; one sister, Gladys Watts Davis of Waynesboro, Va.; sister-in-law, Catherine Watts of Buchanan; niece, Robin (Kevin) Wells of Royal, Ark.; nephews, John (Deana) Mays and Michael Mayes; and great-nephew, John Robert Mayes.
Mary was a resident of Racine, Ohio since 1976, and is survived by many lifelong friends whom she enjoyed visiting. She was a member of Carmel-Sutton United Methodist Church. Before her illness, she was an active member of the Sunshine Circle, Friendship Circle, Racine Area Community Organization, Racine Post 602 Women’s Auxiliary and Racine Grange.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at the Letart Falls Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to either the Carmel-Sutton United Methodist Church Building Fund, 48540 Carmel Road, Racine, Ohio 45771 or to the Racine Area Community Organization, P.O. Box 347, Racine, Ohio 45771. The family would like to thank the Overbrook Center and the House Calls Home Health Care for the care provided to Mary. BRADSHAW, Kim W.
Kim Weddle Bradshaw of Troutville, 54, passed away on June 22, 2017 in Roanoke.
She was a member of the Troutville Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her parents Dewie E. and Kathryn Weddle, husband; Marty Bradshaw, daughters; Elaine Tanaka (Stacy), Gina Astringer, Leanne Bradshaw; twin grandsons, Gabriel and Gage Keaton; brothers, Steve Weddle (Page), all of Troutville, and Randy Weddle (Missy) of Peterstown, W.Va.
The funeral service was conducted at the Troutville Church of the Brethren on Monday, June 26, at 2 p.m. by Pastors Terry Johnson and Elmer Clemons. Burial was in Troutville Cemetery. LAYNE, David B.
David Baldwin Layne, 73, of Buchanan passed away Friday, June 23, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleophus and Sadie Layne, and stepdaughter, Carol Lynn Richards.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rita Layne; daughters, Lisa Crawley and Crystal Layne; grandchildren, Christopher, Alexis, Steven, and Adriana, numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Betty Carper; brother-in-law, Roy Milliron; sisters-in-law, Belinda Sink and Marilyn Holley; many other relatives and friends, including Jim Washam and Peggy Layne; and his beloved cats, Milo, Midnight, and BlackJack.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, with visitation one hour before at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. MOORE, Alma N.
Alma N. Moore, 89, a resident of Botetourt County, departed this life June 20, 2017.
She was born January 15, 1928 in Rose Hill, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayward and Leota Nolan; her husband of over 50 years, Howery Moore; and sister, Thelma Crosthwaite.
She is survived by her two sons, Jay Moore and his wife Shelly Moore and Dr. Jeff Moore and his wife Anne Moore; granddaughter, Danielle Blevins; nephew, Bill Crosthwaite; and niece, Sharon Stark, and their respective families. She is also survived by Dave and Marion Rogers, her longtime neighbors and steadfast friends.
Alma was a graduate of Radford College and taught English in the Roanoke City schools for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother and a kind and generous friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A graveside service was held Saturday, June 24, at 10 a.m. in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
