Juniors Addison Widmer and Maddie McDonald combined for 14 of Roanoke’s 19 goals as the women’s lacrosse squad powered past Sewanee, 19-6, at Kerr Stadium in Salem Sunday. Roanoke was scheduled to wrap up the regular season with a 7 pm Old Dominion Athletic Conference game against Shenandoah University in Salem Wednesday.
Widmer smashed her previous goal and point highs with her offensive performance in the game. She registered her first career hat trick in the first quarter alone. Widmer kept going from there, finishing with six goals and an assist for seven points.
McDonald got in on the action as well, setting new career marks in goals and points after posting eight goals and a helper for nine points. The attacker’s performance ties her for third in the program record books in single game goals.
With the win the RC women evened their overall record at 8-8. They’re 5-2 in the ODAC pending the outcome of Wednesday’s game with Guilford. The ODAC tournament is scheduled to begin this Saturday.
