Salem once again hosted Olde Salem Days this past Saturday. It marked the 43rd year of the event.
Skip Lautenschlager, event chairman, said that it’s difficult to say just how many people attended the event this year, but that “Main Street was full of people until about 2 p.m. when the storm hit. It was just crowded…in the many thousands.”
Once the storm hit, the streets were cleared and the vendors pulled down their tents due to the threat of lightning. Roughly 270 vendors were present this year, along with a number of sponsors.
Overall, Lautenschlager said the Rotary Club of Salem “couldn’t be happier” with the outcome of this year’s event.
