The Salem Police Department reported the following people were arrested and charged between December 27-January 9.

Arrest indicates an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent unless found guilty in court. Police do not release the names of juveniles under the age of 18.

Those arrested and their charges were listed as:

December 27 – Windsor A. Davis, 48, shoplifting; Sally B. Portyrata, 57, failure to appear; Travis C. White, failure to appear; Sue A. Robertson, 47, possession of a controlled substance

December 28 – Kinmerly I. Paige, 45, contempt of court; Zachary D. Saunders, 28, property damage

December 29 – Chalsea M. Shinault, 27, contempt of court, failure to appear; Kenneth W. Johnson, 50, violation of probation; January M. Benson, 37, failure to appear; Lamarcus D. Richardson, 35, possession of a controlled substance; Courtney O. Hunnell, 28, domestic assault and battery; Ivy L. Linton, 31, public intoxication, concealing merchandise; Meghan R. Jones, 33, credit card theft; Joshua R. Anderson, 26, breach of peace; Lasana Sesay, 29, strangulation, possession of marijuana, domestic assault and battery

December 31 – Moises Trevino, 45, public intoxication; Joshua L. Stover, failure to appear; Julianna M. Abbott, 19, possession of marijuana; Dalia R. Jafar, 21, two charges of intimidation, telephone harassment; Dana D. Weaver, 41, violation of probation; Michael T. Adler, 20, failure to appear; Markie Armstrong, 42, burglary, grand larceny

January 1 – Windsor A. Davis, 48, four charges of shoplifting; Timmy D. Hall, 48, reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, domestic assault and battery; Robert B. Suojanen, 27, fugitive from justice; Melissa D. Brown, 39, driving under the influence, unreasonable refusal

January 2 – Tonya E. Stout, 46, domestic assault and battery, petit larceny, vehicle burglary; Noah M. Sibley, 24, open container; Edward J. Hensley, 22, distribution of marijuana

January 3 – Allen W. Benjamin, 25, possession of a controlled substance; Sarah E. Bostic, 25, shoplifting; Jaedi L. Moore, 22, violation of probation; Julius F. Muse Jr., 48, conspiracy to commit shoplifting; Sonya R. Grogans, 28, two charges of grand larceny

January 4 – Michael J. Christianson, 46, public intoxication; Jan B. Winston, 49, obtaining money/goods by false pretense, two charges of bad checks; Brittney L. Edwards, 25, three charges of forgery, three charges of obtaining money/goods by false pretense, three charges of uttering; James L. Presnell, 54, shoplifting; Thomas E. Rector, 18, contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Melissa K. Cheatham, 43, public intoxication; Jerrad A. Edwards, 26, forgery, obtaining goods/money by false pretense, uttering

January 5 – Symeon A. Underwood, 26, public intoxication; April M. Dean, 27, public intoxication; Redina M. Davis, 46, violation of probation; John C. House, 61, fugitive from justice; Melinda A. Kinzie, 32, forgery, obtaining goods/money by false pretense,  uttering,  credit card theft, fraudulent use of a credit card; Shannon L. Walker, 28, domestic assault and battery

January 6– William J. Spence, 28, forgery, obtaining goods/money by false pretense, uttering; Melissa K. Cheatham, 43, violation of probation; John C. Witt, 37, possession of marijuana, possession of a concealed weapon; Walter C. Hartsock, 61, violation of probation

January 7 – Timia E. Williams, 32, public intoxication

January 8 – Alberto H. Dillard, 40, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended operator’s license

January 9 – Dominic J. Cannon, 27, possession of a controlled substance; Michael W. Reese, 36, public intoxication; Melinda A. Kinzie, 32, two charges of fraudulent use of a credit card, two charges of obtaining goods/money by false pretense; Summer B. Kanode, 19, embezzlement; Amber Y. Beamer, 20, assault and battery; Robert B. Musgrove, 32, vehicle theft, four charges of vehicle burglary, three charges of grand larceny

 

Also reported were the following felonies:

December 27 – Shoplifting, 100 block of Electric Road; possession of a controlled substance, 500 block of N. Electric Road

December 28 – Possession of a controlled substance, 300 block of Electric Road; strangulation, 200 block of Chestnut Street

December 29 – Credit card theft, 100 block of Academy Street; concealing merchandise, 200 block of Apperson Drive

December 31 – Embezzlement, 1200 block of W. Main Street

January 1 – Possession of a firearm by a felon, 1600 block of Lynchburg Turnpike; shoplifting, three incidents in the 100 block of Electric Road

January 3 – Robbery, 2000 block of Roanoke Boulevard; shoplifting, 1800 block of W. Main Street

January 4 – Forgery, obtaining goods/money by false pretense, uttering, 1400 block of W. Main Street; forgery, uttering, obtaining goods/money by false pretense, 100 block of Electric Road

January 5 – Grand larceny, 1900 block of Electric Road; credit card theft, forgery, 100 block of Electric Road

January 7 – Burglary, non-residential, 1900 block of Electric Road

January 8 – Vehicle theft, 400 block of Yorkshire Street

January 9 – Embezzlement, 100 block of Electric Road; shoplifting, 1300 block of W. Main Street
