Salem voters went to the polls on Tuesday, March 5 to cast their ballots for selecting delegates to the national convention for the Republican and Democratic parties for the office of president of the United States.
All precincts voted at the Salem Civic Center from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Donald Trump and Joe Biden won their party’s respective primaries.
On the Democratic ticket, voters selected from Marianne Williamson, Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and Dean Benson Phillips. The results were: Williamson ( %), Biden ( %) and Phillips ( %).
On the Republican ticket, voters selected from Chris Christie, Ryan L. Binkley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Donald J. Trump, Ron D. DeSantis and Nikki R. Haley. The results were: Christie ( %), Binkley ( %), Ramaswamy ( %), Trump ( %), DeSantis ( %) and Haley ( %).
General election:
Early, no-excuse voting for the general election at the Salem Registrar’s Office will take place from Sept. 20-Nov. 2.
Oct. 14 will be the last day to update one’s registration or to register to vote in the November election.
Oct. 25 will be the last day to request an absentee ballot application to vote by mail for the general election.
The Salem Registrar’s Office will open on Saturday, Oct. 26 for in-person voting from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 2, the office will again open for in-person voting from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The deadline to vote early for the general election will be 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 6 a.m.-7 p.m., with all precincts once again voting at the Salem Civic Center.
