RC outdoor track & field teams kicked off the 2021 spring season

The Roanoke College outdoor track & field teams kicked off the 2021 spring season with a trip to Lexington to compete in the Washington and Lee Carnival Saturday. Athletes from Bridgewater, Roanoke, Shenandoah, and Washington and Lee competed in the one-day event.

Alison Moreau finished ahead of RC teammate Lily Lippert in both the 100 and 200 meters. In the 100, Moreau posted a time of 13.03, just .04 ahead of runner-up Lippert. In the 200, Moreau took the event in a time of 27.22 with Lippert posting a 27.38 and Haylee Gamble rounding out the top three at 27.39.

Hannah Koepfinger won a pair of events, posting a time of 1:06.53 in the 400 meter hurdles and a winning distance of 5.13 meters in the long jump. In the pole vault, Claire Trotto finished with a height of 3.07 meters and Caitlin Culhane added a final individual win for the Maroons in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.65 meters.

For the men, Sam Crawford outran the field in the 200 meters with a time of 22.44. Crawford returned to win the 400 meters by a half a second over his nearest competitor at 49.94.

This Saturday the Maroons travel to Lynchburg for the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational at the University of Lynchburg.
