The Roanoke College women’s lacrosse team had their five game winning streak snapped with a 17-12 loss to Randolph-Macon in Ashland Saturday. The Maroons are now 5-10 overall and 5-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Roanoke got hat tricks from Lainey Decker and Katie Clements while Jessie Cornbrooks scored a game-high four goals and Alex Lightfoot added three goals and three assists for the Yellow Jackets.

Morgan Barlow scored an unassisted goal 12 minutes into the contest. Decker tacked on another just 45 seconds later to give RC an early 2-0 lead.

Randolph-Macon responded with a 6-1 run over the next seven minutes but Roanoke then used a 4-1 run, highlighted by a pair of goals from Clements, to tie the game at 7-7 with just under five minutes left in the half. Alicia Hsieh scored back-to-back goals in the final two minutes to send the Yellow Jackets into the intermission with a 9-7 lead.

Randolph-Macon opened the second with a pair of goals in the first 30 seconds before Olivia Camillo made it 11-8 R-MC off a pass from Katerina DeSimone but that would be as close as the Maroons would get as the Randolph-Macon held the lead for the remainder of the contest.

Roanoke closes out the regular season against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday at home at 1 pm at Kerr Stadium in Salem. The Maroons can clinch at least the third seed in next week’s conference tournament with a win.
