RC wrestlers win Region 4 championship

The Roanoke College wrestling team won the Division III Region 4 Championships last Friday and Saturday in Ada, Ohio. Nine Maroons qualified for national competition in the event, hosted by Ohio Northern University.

Mac Cafurello (125 pounds), Jude Robson (133), Mark Samuel (141), Taylor Smith (149) and Hunter Moore (184) each won regional titles and Nate Yetzer was named the Region 4 Coach of the Year in the regular season for the third-straight year. The RC coaching staff of Blake Rosenbaum and Collin Gerardi earned Region 4 Staff of the Year honors.

Those five regional champions will be joined by Cade Parent (165), Xavier Preston (174), Lorenzo Pellot-Vazquez (197) and Nicholas Cook (285) at the NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa March 13-14. The top three finishers in each weight class earn a trip to Nationals.
