Taylor Carter of Roanoke College has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Player of the Week
Carter, a junior from Northside High School in Roanoke County, reached base in all five games and proved a disruption on the base paths in helping the Maroons to a 4-0 week in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. Carter went 7-for-13 with two doubles, six runs scored, a walk, and five stolen bases to help her to a .538/.571/.692 slash line.
She doubled as part of a two-hit game with a stolen base in a 3-2 win over Bridgewater in the first game of a doubleheader on April 11, then smacked three more hits in a 9-1 victory in game two.
On Saturday in Salem Carter walked and scored to help Roanoke to a 4-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite in game one at the Moyer Complex. She came back with two hits, including a double, scored two more runs and stole an additional two bases in a 4-1 victory in game two.
For the season, Carter is hitting .318 with a .392 on-base percentage and a .458 slugging percentage. She is second in the league with 29 stolen bases and ninth with 30 runs scored.
The Maroons are now 22-13 overall and 10-7 in the ODAC after the sweep of Eastern Mennonite last Saturday. It was “Senior Day” for RC seniors, Taylor Slate, Taylor Sutherland, Erin Forbes, Jordan Meador and Rachel Guilliams.
The Maroons will wrap up the regular season this Saturday with a doubleheader at Randolph-Macon, beginning at 1:30 pm
