The Salem Red Sox are in the midst of a streak of 11 straight games on the road with the Salem Fair in town. The Sox won’t return until next Monday, July 10, against the Lynchburg Hillcats.

On Monday the Sox took their second extra-innings win in a week, topping the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-2, in 12 innings at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. The Sox bounced back from a complete-game shutout Sunday night to take the win and a series split.

Sox starting pitcher Dedgar Jimenez gave up two runs on eight hits and a walk in his seven innings, fanning two and taking a no-decision. Trevor Kelley surrendered a hit and two walks in two innings but struck out two and didn’t allow a run. Austin Glorius (W, 4-2) fanned one in two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and two walks and earning the win as Salem  improved to 7-5 in the second half.

With the win Salem remained two games behind Lynchburg in the Northern Division standings. The Sox opened a three-game series with Carolina on Tuesday, and this weekend they play three at Lynchburg before returning home Monday for a fourth game against the Hillcats.
