Salem Red Sox thirdbaseman Deiner Lopez thought he had this Downeast Wood Duck picked off in last week’s game in Salem.

The Salem Red Sox will wrap up a three game series in Potomac tonight, then head home to begin a seven game homestand at Haley Toyota Field.

The Sox will play three games with Myrtle Beach this weekend. Friday’s game will begin at 7:05 pm with a 6:05 pm Saturday start, then a 2:05 pm start to wrap up that series on Sunday afternoon. Carolina then comes in for four games beginning Monday, all at 7:05 pm, including the first game as the “Salem Beer Mongers” on Thursday, May 2nd.
The Sox were 5-12 overall and five games behind Wilmington in the Carolina League’s Northern Division standings through Monday. Salem lost three of four games at Frederick last weekend, with the only win coming in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader after Friday’s game was rained out. Salem won that one 11-1 as Jarren Duran went three-for-four to raise his batting average to .386. Dylan Hardy hit a grand slam and a two-run homer for six RBIs in the game, lifting his average to .333. Daniel Gonzalez pitched six innings of shutout ball to pick up his first win.
This week’s promotions include Star Wars Night and fireworks on Friday and a “Halfway to Halloween” celebration on Saturday.
