The Salem High boys and girls soccer teams will open Region 4D sub-region play this week with the boys at home and the girls on the road.
Both teams were scheduled to open tournament play on Wednesday. The girls were 11-6 and they were at 12-7-1 Mecklenburg County. The boys, who also finished the regular season 11-6, were scheduled to host 10-6 Halifax.
Wednesday’s winner will advance to the sub-region semifinals next Monday. If the Salem boys won they would be at Blacksburg for a third meeting of the season with the Bruins.
