To ensure children are protected to return back to school, Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts (RCAHD) will offer numerous opportunities across our jurisdictions in upcoming weeks for students to receive Back to School immunizations.
To meet state requirements to enter the school year, students new to Virginia schools must receive a physical and all students must be up to date on their vaccinations. There are new vaccines required this year, and in particular, there are several vaccines required for entry into 7th and 12th grades. COVID-19 vaccines are not required for school entry, however RCAHD encourages all children ages 12 and up to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.
