The Roanoke College Track & Field team will host the Joe LaRocco Invitational at the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse in Salem this Saturday. Last week Maroon men and women had big days at the Camel City competition at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC.
For the men, Max Cardwell ran the second-fastest 400m time in program history and Elias Ammon also posted a PR time in the mile run. Cardwell set a personal record in the 400m, clocking in at 48.80 seconds to finish eighth in the event. His time, which puts him in second place in the Roanoke record book, currently ranks third in the ODAC and the NCAA South Region and 31st in Division III.
Ammon’s personal-best time of 4:18.67 in the mile led all D3 competitors and was good for 26th place overall. He now ranks seventh in both the conference and the region.
In the women’s competition RC’s Lindsey Hobin logged the second-fastest 400m time in school history, finishing the race in 57.65 seconds. That mark leads the ODAC, and it currently ranks second in the NCAA South Region and 26th in the country. She led all Division III competitors and finished 15th overall in the seeded branch of the event.
The distance medley relay team of Ava Wray, Nadira Cantey, Allie Gallaher and Maya Herndon finished third overall with a mark of 13:27.56.
