The Roanoke College men’s soccer team will make their home debut this weekend as they host the All Sports Café Roanoke College Invitational.

There will be two games on Saturday and two on Sunday, with Lynchburg College also participating from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. On Saturday LC will play The College of New Jersey at 3 pm, followed by RC against Penn St.-Abington at 5:30 pm. On Sunday LC will play TCNJ at noon and RC will take on TCNJ in the second game.

The Maroons were at Greensboro on Wednesday, but results were too late for publication. Last weekend Roanoke opened the season with two games in the Shellenberger Classic at Lynchburg College.  The Maroons battled Mass-Boston to a 0-0 tie on Friday, then beat Pfeiffer on Sunday, 2-1.

Sam Rauf scored with 13 minutes left in the win over Pfeiffer. After 73 minutes of scoreless play, Darwin Ramirez gave Pfeiffer a 1-0 lead off a pass from Stenson Croom. Roanoke responded two minutes later as Jose Robertson found the back of the net, assisted from Marshall Hodge to make it a tie game.

Rauf scored the game winner at 77:45 off the foot of Robertson to secure the 2-1 win. The Maroons held a 14-5 edge in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Nick Tadros made two saves in goal for RC while David Chavarria made four for Pfeiffer.
