The Roanoke College men’s soccer team will host Lynchburg College this Saturday in a big “Family Weekend” conference game. The ODAC tilt will begin at 6 pm on the Kerr Stadium pitch.

Roanoke is 4-2-1 after falling to Mary Washington in Fredricksburg last Saturday. A pair of second-half goals lifted UMW to a 2-1 victory.

Roanoke got on the board just under eight minutes into the first-half when Jose Robertson took a pass from Atticus Cooke and found the back of the net to make it a 1-0 advantage for RC. The match stayed that way through halftime and into the 55th minute when UMW got the equalizer off the foot of Gary Foley, who recorded an unassisted strike to tie the match.

Mary Washington got what proved to be the game-winner in the 85th minute on a goal from Jeremy Hokenson.

Roanoke held an 11-9 edge in shots and a 3-2 advantage in cornerkicks. Matt Spencer made seven saves for the Eagles to help keep RC off the board in the second half. Nick Tadros made four stops for RC.

The Maroons were scheduled to play at Southern Virginia Wednesday. Next Tuesday, September 26, Roanoke will meet Oglethorpe in Pineville, NC.
