
The Roanoke College men’s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over Lancaster Bible College in their season opener last Friday night at the Cregger Center in Salem.
Senior Cade Kinne led the team in kills with 13 on the night to tie his career high. He also posted a .524 hitting percentage. Michael Cummins was the next closest Maroon in kills with eight.
Freshman Johnny Moran started his collegiate career off with a team high 19 assists. Leo Houser was too far behind Moran, adding 16 assists, and in his first game as the starting libero CJ Kingston led in digs with 10 in the match.
Dominic Wheaton and Colin Mendoza had four blocks each. Wheaton had one solo and three assists while Medoza had two solo blocks and two assists. Mendoza also posted a .625 hitting percentage for six kills on the night.
The Maroons have the week off before returning to the Cregger Center for a tri-match this Saturday with Shenandoah and the Virginia Tech club team. The squad will take on Shenandoah at 1 pm and Viginia Tech at 5 pm.
