
The Roanoke College volleyball team won three of four matches in the “Maroon Classic” weekend event at the Cregger Center last weekend. Roanoke hosted games on Friday and Saturday for a variety of schools.
The Maroons swept both Friday matches, three sets to one over North Carolina Wesleyan and 3-2 against Brevard College. Emma Catoe had 12 kills and Raygan Wade had 22 assists against Wesleyan. Gracelynn Clark and Catoe had 11 kills each against Brevard.
On Saturday Roanoke made it three in a row with a 3-1 win over Methodist University as Kaci Morrison had 14 kills and Karly Shipe had 13. Cassidy Zalinski dished out 23 assists and had 10 digs.
In the final match of the tournament Salem College defeated the Maroons 3-0, 25-16, 25-11, 25-23. Morrison had 10 kills and Wade had 16 assists.
The Maroons were back in action Tuesday to host Johnson & Wales and won in three sets. With that result RC is now 6-3 with matches this Saturday in Swannanoa, N.C., against Regent University and Warren Wilson.
