The South County schools are hosting the River Ridge District tennis tournaments this week, with the girls at Cave Spring and the boys at Hidden Valley.

The girls’ tournament began Tuesday with Morgan Neily representing the Spartans in singles and the team of Eliza East and Lyndsay Frank playing doubles. Doubles semifinals and finals were scheduled for Wednesday with singles semis and finals today.

The boys opened Monday and Salem’s Johnny Danstrom beat Devin Overton of Patrick Henry in the first round, 6-0, 6-0. Johnny then lost in the semifinals to Paul Baron of Hidden Valley, 6-4, 6-4.

Doubles were scheduled to begin Tuesday with Danstrom and Jake Johnson representing Salem. The semifinals and the championship round were scheduled for Wednesday.
