The Salem Choral Society is pleased to present “Then Sings My Soul” under the direction of S. Reed Carter IV in Salem Presbyterian Church on Sunday October 22, 2017 at 4 p.m. Admission is free; donations will be accepted and child care will be provided.
Mr. Carter has intentionally assembled a mix of inspirational music meant to lessen this oftentimes chaotic world. From Broadway to gospel to sacred, the performance is designed to pull you away from day to day concerns and lift your spirits.
Included in the concert is “America The Beautiful”, “Love Devine, All Loves Excelling”, “Singing in the Rain”, a medley from the Broadway play “Beauty And The Beast” and “If I Can Help Somebody”.
Also is the basis for the title of our concert “Then Sings My Soul”. The arranger, Mary McDonald has taken the well-known “How Great Thou Art” and spun the melody into a wonderful rendition. Together with new harmonies Ms. McDonald weaves it all together into a beautiful and fresh tapestry of truly poignant music.
This will be an enjoyable concert for all. Please mark your calendars and join the Salem Choral Society for an afternoon of delightful music. We look forward to seeing you.
