Salem City Council is seeking applicants for a vacant City Council member in
terim appointment. This interim appointment will be in effect until the voters of
the City of Salem elect a replacement at a special election on November 2, 2027,
and then the elected person would be certified and duly sworn for the remainder
of the vacant Council member term ending December 31, 2028.
Interested applicants must be a registered voter in the City of Salem and submit
both a resume and letter of interest either hand-delivered or by email no later
than 5:00 p.m. on September 8, 2026, to be considered.
Resumes and letters of interest must be hand-delivered to the City Manager’s
Office, Attention: Rob Light, Clerk of Council, 114 North Broad Street, Salem,
VA 24153 or may be emailed to [email protected].
Per the Code of Virginia, all application documents received are required to be
made available for public inspection.
